About The Arc of Dallas

The Arc of Dallas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and related disabilities. It was formed in 1951 by a group of parents who joined forces to fight for their children's rights to a public education. Similar groups were forming nationwide, and now The Arc of Dallas is one of more than 780 chapters throughout the country that provides services and continues to advocate for people with disabilities.

There are well over 3 million people in Texas who have intellectual disabilities, yet the state ranks last in the nation when it comes to state funding to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. As a result, there is an 8-10 year wait for these comprehensive state-funded services! The Arc of Dallas works hard to fill the "care gap" through programs that improve their lives and by helping them to access community resources. The Arc positively impacts the lives of nearly 13,000 in Dallas, Rockwall and Collin Counties by helping individuals to live their lives to their fullest potential, as well as give their families support, guidance and hope. We are their "partner for a lifetime."
