Penny Wars
Arrange for a contest between grades, homerooms, or departments to collect the most amount of pennies. Silver coins and dollar bills can be put in the opposing team’s containers to count against the pennies. Then have a party for the winning team.
Hold Student/Teacher Games
Organize volleyball, flag football, basketball, or softball games between students and teachers. Charge admission and sell refreshments to the audience.
Photo Scavenger Hunt
Forms team of 5-10 people from different clubs, departments, or athletic groups and charge each person $10-$20. Come up with a fun list of tasks like “Take a nap in an inappropriate Page,” “Balance spoons on your nose,” and “Wrap a member in saran wrap.” Give each team a set amount of time to take digital pictures of as many tasks as they can. After 2 hours give the winning team a prize or a party.
Flamingo Gathering
Purchase 10 plastic lawn decoration flamingos. Put the flamingos in the first person’s yard with a note tired around flamingoes’ necks with your organization’s name and information and phone number they call. On the note tell them that for a $10 donation the flamingos will be removed but for $15 they will be moved to another yard of the choice. Tell them the money will be donated to charity.
Bingo Night
Find a location to host a bingo night. Sell bingo cards for $5 a piece or $20 for 5 cards. Get prizes donated to give to the winners. You could do this event in conjunction with a 50/50 raffle.
50/50 Raffle
Sell raffle tickets for $1 or 10 for $5. At the end of a set period of time, pick a ticket out of a box. The winner receives 50% of the profits earned from the raffle ticket sales. The other 50% goes to The Arc of Dallas.
Car Wash
Another classic! Ask a restaurant, supermarket or gas station if you can use their location. Bring posters, buckets, soap, and towels for an easy, lucrative fundraiser.
Bowling
Participate in The Arc of Dallas’s Bowling for Ability or plan your own similar event.
Week of Dining
Ask 7 local restaurants to donate a dinner for two, and have a raffle! Pick the price per ticket, around $25-$30 is reasonable. The winner will eat Great for a whole week! This works with other fundraisers, too!
Admission Increase
If a major event is taking place at your school (dance, sports competition) ask to raise the admission price by $.50. That additional charge helps support your Best Buddies chapter.
Jail-n-Bail
Select certain people to be deputies to arrest friends/family/co-workers and set a bail for them ($1-$10). The “jail birds” are allowed one phone call to friends and family, who may come to “post bail” and spring them out of jail. Or they may pay themselves out of jail or beg people walking by.
